Getting started

Litmux Studio is one app with many tools. These steps take you from installing it to your first project.

1. Install

Download the installer for Windows or macOS and open it. Everything the apps need comes inside - the Arduino compiler too - so there is nothing else to install.

2. Create your account

The first time it opens, Litmux Studio asks you to sign in. Choose Create a free account (or sign in with an account you made on the website): your 7-day trial of every app starts on that computer. After that the apps work offline; Litmux Studio checks your licence when you are online.

3. The start window

Every app starts from the start window: Drafting, Board Editor, PCB Milling, Part Design, 3D Assembly, Electronics Studio, Panel Builder, App Builder, Automation Studio, Litmux Academy and the Gerber and G-code viewers. The Examples at the bottom open ready-made projects - a tractor, a robot arm, a bottling line, demo boards.

4. Your first circuit

Open Electronics Studio, choose Examples and pick Arduino Traffic light. Press Run (F5): the program runs and the LEDs change. Open the program editor to change it in Blocks or in code, then Upload to my board (USB) to put it on a real Arduino.

5. Mill your first board

Open PCB Milling and open a board folder (Gerber + drill files) - or the demo board from the Examples. Check the preview, set your machine and bits, simulate, then Generate G-code. Run a test cut first to dial in the real cut width.

6. Render a picture

In 3D Assembly or Part Design, set the view and press Ctrl+R. Choose the size and quality and click Render: the picture is ray traced while you keep working.

7. A phone app for your board (App Builder)

Open App Builder from the start window. Drag widgets from the library onto the phone - a switch for the pump, a gauge for the temperature, a chart - and give each its name, colour and channel (V0 to V31). Save keeps the project on your account. Set up the board gives the board's key and ready code for ESP32, ESP8266 (Arduino IDE) or Pico W (MicroPython - it uploads over USB from there): type your Wi-Fi, upload, and the board shows online. Open on my phone shows a QR code: scan it, sign in, and add the page to your home screen.

In the Rules tab, make the project act on its own: when Temperature is above 30, set Pump to 1, or when the board is offline for 10 min, e-mail me. The Board tab shows the board's signal, uptime and firmware, exports the readings as CSV, and - on the Pro and School plans - sends a new program to the board over the air: export the compiled binary from the Arduino IDE (or choose a new main.py) and press Send to the board.

8. Choose a plan

Click your name at the top right of the start window, then Choose a plan. Pay with Mobile Money or card - see Pricing.

Questions

Does it need the internet?

Only to sign in, to buy and to check your licence now and then. A paid plan checks in at least once a month; the free trial ends on its date with or without internet.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Each plan says how many computers can use it at once. Sign out of one computer and sign in on another any time.

How do I stop automatic renewal?

Your account in the app → Manage renewal → Cancel. Your plan runs to its end date and nothing more is taken.

What is Litmux AI?

An assistant in Electronics Studio that reads your circuit and program, answers questions, finds mistakes and builds circuits. New accounts get free credits; plans include more every month.

Do you have licences for schools?

Yes - the School / Lab plan covers a whole lab. Write to us.
